The Rigidalstock is a 2593 meter high mountain above the Brunnis in Engelbergertal in Switzerland .
location
The summit of the Rigidalstock lies on the canton border between Nidwalden and Obwalden . It belongs to the Unterwaldner Voralpen and thus to the Lucerne and Unterwaldner Voralpen (subsection 14.III of the SOIUSA classification).
Neighboring peaks in the north are the Walenstocks with up to 2572 m, in the east the Spitzmann with 2577 m and the Grosse Sättelistock with 2637 m.
The summit is marked with a summit cross.
Ascent
The Rigidalstock can be climbed on two via ferrata routes.
The Rigidalstockwand via ferrata leads past a small cave on the west wall to the summit. The cave with the name Adleraugeloch is the highest known cave in Obwalden at an altitude of 2505 m. The Rigidalstockwand via ferrata is rated K3-4 on the Hüsler scale.
The Rigidalstockgrat via ferrata leads up the sinful ridge to the summit. The via ferrata is classified as less difficult with K3 and is also the route down from the summit.
The via ferratas are closed in winter.
