Ringelfolk was a meeting of songwriters , poets and folk musicians in the GDR in the Ringelnatzklause in Wurzen ( Saxony ).

history

Ringelfolk took place in the Ringelnatzklause Wurzen without an event permit, whereby there was no censorship. After the increased control of stage performers since 1984, new freedom was sought. It was organized by the members of the Dieters Frohe Zukunft group, Uwe Schimmel and Dieter Kalka .

Participants were writers, songwriters and folk musicians, mainly from the Leipzig song scene , a. a. Jayne-Ann Igel (Leipzig), Jürgen B. Wolff (Leipzig), the then banned Munzenberger Gevattern combo (Quedlinburg), Tippelklimper (Potsdam) with Christian Hohberg alias Fried Wandel, Akram Mutlak (Leipzig), Sachsendiva Katrin Troendle (Leipzig) , Ralph Elsässer (Leipzig) and Joachim Schäfer (Leipzig).

The event, which took place annually from 1985 to 1987, was observed by the Stasi and classified as dangerous to the state.
