Rita Fromm , b. Klemp, (born May 1, 1944 in Josephshof , Schlochau district ) is a German politician ( FDP ).

Life and work

Rita Fromm grew up in the western part of Berlin, completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk / construction specialist group and worked in various commercial areas of building materials wholesaling, building materials forwarding, textile wholesaling and also as a tennis trainer. The restless 67s and 68s , the rebellion of the younger generation against an encrusted post-war society, the emergence of a revolutionary movement, the extra-parliamentary opposition , the “new women's movement” and in 1971 the Freiburg theses of the FDP had an impact on them. Following the slogan of the women's movement 'The private is political', she became involved in the FDP and took on party functions at the federal and state levels as well as in Karlsruhe . With her now deceased husband, the Dipl.-Ing. Detlef Fromm, she has lived in Karlsruhe since 1976. From her special interest in women's history and politics, she developed her freelance activity in adult education over the years and writes textbooks for literary-musical readings, scenic interpretations , fictional dialogues and features.

Political activity

Rita Fromm was a member of the German Bundestag from 1980 to 1983. From 1989 to 2014 she was a councilor in the Karlsruhe municipal council. Temporarily as deputy group leader and from 2008 group chairman. Urban planning, building, traffic and politics relevant to women were her main areas of work alongside cultural politics.
