Rita Raines (actually Rita Babcock , born May 22, 1930 in Chicago , † March 13, 2014 in Redlands ) was an American easy-listening and jazz singer who was active in the 1950s.

Rita Raines performed at the Harvest Moon Festival in her hometown in 1955 ; In November 1955 the single “The Wedding Song (Until Death Do Us Apart)” / “Don't Touch Me” (Deed 1006) was released on the local Chicago label Deed Records, and in 1956 she released the single “Such a Day “before; the song was the English-language version of the German mood song “So ein Tag, so schön wie heute” by Lotar Olias (music) and Walter Rothenburg (text). The B-side was the jazz standard " Ol 'Devil Moon ". "Such a Day" was # 89 on the American Billboard Hot 100 in February 1956, which was to be her only chart success.

In the music dance show American Bandstand of the TV station ABC Raines was presented as " Favorite Artist of 1956 ".
