Rita el Khayat

Rita el Khayat ( Arabic غيثة الخياط, DMG Ġīṯa al-Ḫayyāṭ ; * 1944 in Rabat ) is a Moroccan poet , psychiatrist , psychoanalyst and art critic . She studied anthropology in Casablanca and Paris. She is known for her analysis of the role of women in the Arab world.

Life path

Rita el Khayat, who grew up at the time of the decolonization of Morocco , studied medicine first in Rabat, then in Paris . She then successfully studied anthropology and underwent psychoanalytic training. She returned to Rabat to practice and write there. Khayat is a professor at Chieti University, Italy.
