Rival Kings is a Swiss rock band from Lucerne and operates in the field of indie rock .
history
The band was founded in 2012 by Daniel Betschart, Dominique Marcel Iten and Rafael Schwab from the remnants of the progressive rock band Pure Soundart . Shortly afterwards, singer Étienne Hilfiker and bassist Fabio Lanza joined them. Soon afterwards, the band was working on the first album, which was released in January 2014, and surprisingly landed on the Swiss charts. The band then switched to the Swiss label “DeepDive Music”, with Sandro Furrer taking over from Fabio Lanza on bass. In the summer of 2014, numerous festival and open-air appearances followed, including at the Gurten Festival , the Voices Festival in Germany, the Zurich Openair and at TEDxZurich .
In 2015, Christopher James Christensen joined the band. With him, the band completed work on the successor to Citizens. On September 30, 2016, the second album "War" was released, which entered the Swiss album charts at number 11.
