The River Bleng is a river in the Lake District , Cumbria , England . The River Bleng is created as a tongue gill on the southern slope of a ridge formed by Haycock and Caw Fell . At the foot of the ridge at Stockdale Head , the Tongue Gill then becomes the River Bleng.
The River Bleng first flows in a westerly direction, then it turns first south-west and then south to take its course in the east at the place Gosforth . At the height of the southern end of the town of Gosforth, the River Bleng turns in a direct eastward direction, which leads it to its confluence with the River Irt .
