The Don (River Don), also known as Dun in some areas , is a river in South Yorkshire , England . It has its source in the hills of the Pennines and flows approximately 112 kilometers eastwards.

Between 1626 and 1635 the course of the river was diverted so that it now flows into the Ouse instead of the Trent . The aim of the project, led by Cornelius Vermuyden , was to reclaim more land than retention area .
