The River Gelt is a river in Cumbria , England .
The River Gelt arises from the confluence of the Old Water and New Water west of the Tarnmonath Fell . The river initially flows in a northerly direction until it takes a northwesterly direction west of Simmerson Hill, which becomes a westward direction west of Talkin Tarn, in which it then flows to its confluence with the River Irthing south of Carlisle Airport .
