The River Nadder is a river in Great Britain . It is one of the largest tributaries of the River Avon in southern England.

The River Nadder has its source in numerous headwaters, including the Fonthill Stream and the River Sem at Donhead St Mary in the chalk hills of southern Wiltshire . It flows east-northeast through the Nadder Valley past Tisbury . In Wilton House Park it flows under the famous Palladian bridge . Shortly after Wilton , the River Wylye flows into it from the left . Through a wetland with numerous ponds and branches, the river flows further east-southeast until it joins the Avon west of Salisbury . At Tisbury gauge the normal water level is between 0.56 and 0.67 m. The highest water level ever recorded was 2.92 m on November 5, 2000. Due to the large population of rainbow trout , the river is popular with anglers.
