The Robbins Glacier is a broad glacier on Thurston Island before Eights Coast of the West Antarctic Ellsworthlands . It flows north to the head end of Peale Inlet .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2003 after James Haskin Robbins (* 1926) of the United States Navy , responsible for the on-board radar of a PBM Mariner that was in use in Operation Highjump (1946-1947) on December 30, 1946 on the neighboring Noville Peninsula had crashed. Robbins' efforts had contributed significantly to the fact that six members of the nine-man crew could be saved alive on January 12, 1947.
