Robert-Joseph Mathen (born December 30, 1916 in Aubange , Belgium , † January 19, 1997 in Namur ) was Bishop of Namur .

Life

Robert Joseph Mathen was ordained a priest on August 25, 1940 in Namur .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on March 15, 1974 Coadjutor Bishop of Namur and Titular Bishop of Tituli in Numidia . He was ordained episcopate on May 3rd of the same year by the Bishop of Namur, André Marie Charue . Co -consecrators were Auxiliary Bishop Jean-Baptiste Musty from Namur and the secretary of the Pontifical Biblical Commission , Albert Descamps .

With the age-related resignation of André Marie Charue on June 24, 1974, he succeeded him as Bishop of Namur.

On February 7, 1991 Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation.
