The Robert Koch Hospital Apolda (RKK) is an acute hospital in the central Thuringian district town of Apolda , which is responsible for the catchment area of the city of Apolda and the northern part of the Weimarer Land district with a total of around 50,000 inhabitants. The Robert Koch Hospital is an academic teaching hospital of the University of Jena .

history
The hospital was inaugurated on December 11, 2002 after almost three years of construction. The topping-out ceremony was celebrated in April 2001. The new building was erected directly behind the entrance to the town from the direction of Jena and replaces the three previous clinic locations of the Robert Koch Hospital, which were spread over the urban area of Apolda. These suffered from building fabric, some of which was over 100 years old and no longer expandable. The new building cost a total of 55 million euros. Approximately 50.85 million euros come from the special hospital program of the federal, state and health insurance funds for the new federal states.
