Robert Baden-Powell, 3rd Baron Baden-Powell
Robert Crause Baden-Powell, 3rd Baron Baden-Powell (born October 15, 1936 in Johannesburg ; † December 28, 2019 ) was a British peer and politician .
He was the eldest son of Peter Baden-Powell, 2nd Baron Baden-Powell (1913–1962) and his wife Carine Crause-Boardman (1909–1993).
He was educated at Bryanston School in Blandford , Dorset . Until 1955 he did his military service in the Royal Navy . From then on he worked in London as a financial broker.
When his father died in 1962, he inherited his title as 3rd Baron Baden-Powell and 3rd Baronet (of Bentley). The first title was associated with a seat in the House of Lords . He lost his hereditary seat in Parliament when reforms of the House of Lords Act 1999 came into force .
Like his grandfather Robert Baden-Powell , the founder of the Boy Scout Movement, and his father, he was committed to the Boy Scout Movement. From 1965 to 1982 he was Chief Scouts Commissioner and in 1982 Vice-President of The Scout Association .
From 1991 and 2002 he was President of the Camping and Caravanning Club. He also campaigned for the spread of American Quarter Horse racing in Europe.
In 1963 he married Patience Hélène Mary Batty. Since he had no children, his younger brother David Michael Baden-Powell (* 1940) is the heir to his titles.
