Its foundation dates back to 1928, which is relatively young for an English boarding school. History and mission statement

In the beginning, Bryanston was a small school with only 23 students and seven employees. In 2004 there were 650 students and 80 teachers, not counting employees. The motto of this relatively young liberal school is: "Et nova et vetera" - "both new and old".

Bryanston is known for its liberal attitude and the wide range of leisure activities. Furthermore, pupils with special musical, artistic or even sporting talents are strongly encouraged.

The school is financed through school fees and donations. School fees are among the highest in England at around £ 26,000 .

This school attitude is in large part due to Tom Wheare, the last principal of the boarding school, who retired at the end of the 2005 school year . His successor Sarah Thomas is the first female principal since the school was founded.

The colors of the school colors are yellow and blue.

It also hosts the JACT Ancient Greek Summer School every year, attended by many of Britain's most renowned classical philologists.

dress

Unlike most boarding schools in England, the Bryanston School does not have a school uniform, merely a dress code ( "Dress Code").

Men should wear polo shirts, black or dark blue pants (not jeans) and leather shoes. Women can choose between dark blue or black skirts or trousers and polo shirts. In the senior years of school, men are also allowed to wear shirts and the rules are generally relaxed.
