Robert Borg

Robert John "Bob" Borg (born May 27, 1913 in Manila , Philippines , † April 5, 2005 in Oxford , Michigan ) was an American dressage rider .

Robert Borg took part in three Olympic Games - 1948 on Klingsor , 1952 and 1956 on Bill Biddle . In 1948 in London he won the silver medal in dressage together with the team ( Earl Foster Thomson and Frank Henry ); in the individual, he finished fourth. At the Pan American Games in Mexico City in 1955 , he also won the silver medal. He was also the coach of the United States' eventing team from 1951 to 1956 .

In 1960 Robert Borg had a riding accident after which he was partially paralyzed. Because of his handicap, he had a rotating wooden platform built on his farm in Michigan so that he could continue to work with horses. In total he trained around 600 horses in his life.

In 1999, Borg received the Pegasus Medal of Honor from the American Horse Shows Association , and in 2006 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the United States Dressage Federation .
