Robert Coulondre
Robert Coulondre (born September 11, 1885 in Nîmes , † March 6, 1959 in Paris ) was a French diplomat, most recently with the rank of ambassador .
He studied law and Chinese languages entered the consular service in 1908, became consul in London in May 1909, attaché in the office of the foreign minister in March 1912, he became an associate consul in Beirut in 1912, entered the diplomatic service in 1919 and succeeded in May 1919 Sent to Morocco . In January 1926 he was a delegate at Franco-Soviet economic negotiations. From 1927 to February 28, 1933 he headed the commercial relations department of the Direction des affaires politiques et commerciales and was then deputy director of the Direction des affaires politiques et commerciales on the Quai d'Orsay . He was an ambassador of the French Popular Front government in Moscow , later ambassador in Berlin to the declaration of war from France to Germany in September 1939. On September 3, 1939, he gave Joachim von Ribbentrop a statement in which the Government Edouard Daladier , the Hitler government to evacuate the occupied Polish Requested territories. From May to October 1940 he was envoy of the Vichy regime in Bern .
