Robert Dessaix

Robert Dessaix (born February 17, 1944 in Sydney ) is an Australian author and journalist .

Life

Dessaix was adopted at a young age. He went to school at North Sydney Boys High School . He then studied in Moscow in the early 1970s. After graduating, Dessaix got a job at the Australian National University , where he taught Russian studies. From 1972 to 1984 he was teaching at the University of New South Wales . During these years he translated a number of Russian books into English. He worked with Michael Ulman , among others . From 1985 to 1995 Dessaix presented the television program Books and Writing on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation television station in Australia. From 1993 Dessaix began to write several books as an author, for which he received various literary prizes.
