Robert F. Marx

Robert F. "Bob" Marx (* 8. December 1936 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † 4. July 2019 in Florida ) was one of the pioneers of "American Scuba divers" and known for his work and his publications on ship wrecks and Sunken treasures .

His fellow treasure hunting and underwater archeology colleague Edward Lee Spence has described Marx as the true father of underwater archeology . Marx has completed more than 5000 dives and written over 800 scientific articles and 59 books on history, archeology, shipwrecks and discoveries. Marx was married to Jennifer Marx and lived in Indiatlantic . She was the co-author of many of his books. Marx was a founding member of the Council on Underwater Archeology and the Sea Research Society , serving the Society's Board of Advisors and took in 1972 to the creation of the "Research / professional degree" for Doctor of Maritime History ( Doctor of Naval Histories ) part.
