Robert Francis Gifford, 2nd Baron Gifford (born March 19, 1817 in London , † May 13, 1872 ) was a British peer .

Life

He was the eldest son of the lawyer and politician Robert Gifford, 1st Baron Gifford and his wife Harriet Maria Drewe, daughter of the Reverend Edward Drewe, pastor in Willand . He had six siblings.

When his father died on September 4, 1826, he inherited his title of nobility as Baron Gifford and the associated seat in the House of Lords .

On April 2, 1845, he married Frederica Charlotte FitzHardinge Berkeley, daughter of Admiral Maurice Berkeley, 1st Baron FitzHardinge . With her he had eight daughters and four sons, including his eldest son Edric Gifford , who inherited him as Baron Gifford in 1872, and his third son Edgar Gifford , who took over the title when he died childless in 1911.
