Edgar Gifford, 4th Baron Gifford

Edgar Berkeley Gifford, 4th Baron Gifford (March 8, 1857 - January 29, 1937 ) was a British peer .

Life

He was the second son of Robert Gifford, 2nd Baron Gifford from his marriage to Frederica Berkeley, daughter of Admiral Maurice Berkeley, 1st Baron FitzHardinge . He had eleven siblings.

He served with the rank of lieutenant in the militia of South Gloucestershire .

On November 26, 1879, he married Mary Osborne for the first time. After her death in 1913, he married Anne Maud Aitchison on June 5, 1918. This second marriage resulted in a daughter, Serena Mary Gifford (* 1919).

When his older brother Edric Gifford, 3rd Baron Gifford died on June 5, 1911 , he inherited his title of nobility as Baron Gifford and thereby became a member of the House of Lords . When he himself died in 1937 without male descendants, his nephew Charles Gifford inherited the title.
