Robert Grootendorst

Robert 'Rob' Grootendorst (born February 11, 1944 in Schiedam ; † February 23, 2000 ) was a Dutch communication scientist and argumentation theorist . He was professor of Dutch linguistic communication at the University of Amsterdam and co-founder of the Pragma Dialectic .

Life

Grootendorst was a primary school teacher in the 1960s. In 1970 he completed a master's degree at the University of Amsterdam . In 1982 he did his doctorate in linguistic communication with Frans van Eemeren , with whom he also developed the argumentation theory of the pragma dialectic .
