Robert Küssel

Robert Küssel (born May 13, 1895 in Gliwice , Upper Silesia , German Empire , † September 29, 1970 in Berlin ) was a German musician ( cellist ), conductor , composer and film composer .

Live and act

The restaurateur's son attended the community school in his native Gleiwitz. Then Küssel received artistic training at the Ducal Music School in Bauden (Upper Silesia). He then worked as head cellist in various orchestras until 1928, before starting to work as a composer from 1929.

Küssel has made a name for himself above all with marching music. In the 1930s there were also several composition commissions for less important films, in the Third Reich Küssel mainly served productions with military themes. Robert Küssel also worked as Kapellmeister. Küssel's NSDAP membership card is in the Prieberg archive in the Musicological Institute of the University of Kiel .
