Robert Last

Robert Last (* 1921 in Bremen ; † 1986 ) was a German drummer .

Life

The eldest brother of Werner Last (known as Kai Warner ) and Hans Last (known as James Last ) had played together with his brothers in the dance and entertainment orchestra of Radio Bremen and in the Last-Becker Ensemble , went to the USA in 1956 and studied drums with Sonny Igoe , Woody Herman's drummer . He played in New York in the mirror cabinet of the Metropole Cafe on Broadway. After six years he returned to Germany. In 1965 he became the first drummer of the James Last Band and the Kai Warner Orchestra . He also played with Helmut Zacharias , Günter Fuhlisch and Bert Kaempfert .

In the early 1970s he founded his own studio orchestra and released several long-playing records as a happy dancing series, which were released by the Decca in a royal stereo sound . His first LP was the "Non stop Musical Party" (1970).

On a tour of South Africa, James Last kicked him out of the band for unreliability. Since then he has only occasionally played in studio recordings in his brother's band.

Robert Last died in 1986.
