Robert Lee "Bobby" Satcher, Jr. (born September 22, 1965 in Hampton , state of Virginia , USA ) is a former American astronaut .

Astronaut activity

In May 2004, Satcher was selected as a mission specialist with the 19th NASA group to be an astronaut candidate. In February 2006 he completed his astronaut training. He left NASA in September 2011.

STS-129

Satcher was nominated for the STS-129 space shuttle mission in September 2008 . He took off on November 16, 2009 with the space shuttle Atlantis to the International Space Station (ISS) . On November 19, he carried out a space exit with Michael Foreman . Among other things, they installed a reserve antenna, laid cables and lubricated moving parts. On November 23, 2009 he undertook another space exit with Randy Bresnik .
