Hugo Karl Robert Leimbach (born March 17, 1876 in Heidelberg ; † August 22, 1914 ) was a German chemist .

Life

During his studies he became a member of the Vineta Heidelberg fraternity in the winter semester of 1894/95 . In 1900 he received his doctorate in Heidelberg . Leimbach was a student of Otto Wallach at the Georg-August University in Göttingen - as was Otto Lampe, the partner in the E. Sachsse & Co. factory , for which Leimbach worked from 1901–1902. Here the essential oil of the seeds of Monodora grandiflora ( Jamaica nutmeg ) is depicted. He reported about it in a commemorative publication on Wallach in 1909.

As an employee of Theodor Curtius in Heidelberg, he worked on the hydrazide of pyrocucic acid . In 1910 he had the work “The essential oils” appear in the collection “Monographs on chemical-technical production methods ” with Konrad Bournot (for those for whom the classic standard work by Gildemeister and Hoffmann is too extensive).

In January 1909 he married Helena Jacoba Susanna van Oordt (1875–1954) from Karlsruhe in Heidelberg. He was the first chairman of the German Grand Lodge (EV) of the Neutral Good Templar Order. He died in the First World War as a first lieutenant in Landwehr I on August 22, 1914.
