Robert McHugh (born July 16, 1991 in Glasgow ) is a Scottish football player . The striker is under contract with Scottish second division club Greenock Morton .

Career

Robert McHugh was born in the Scottish city of Glasgow . He began his football career at Motherwell FC, for whom he made his professional debut against Hibernian Edinburgh in May 2008 when he was substituted on for Ross McCormack . His first goal as a professional came in July 2009 in the European Cup in an 8-1 win against the Albanian club KS Flamurtari Vlora . At the end of the season, the 18-year-old extended his contract until 2013. With Motherwell he reached the cup final in 2011 , which was lost to Celtic Glasgow . McHugh extended his expiring contract in March 2013 for two more years before being awarded the title of Scottish second division club Queen of the South in January 2014 . Another year later he was awarded to the third division Airdrieonians FC . In July 2015 he moved to FC Falkirk after his contract at Motherwell was not renewed.

National team

Robert McHugh played eight times for the Scotland U-17s from 2007 to 2008 . As of September 2009, the attacker played in the U-19 age group for two years .
