Robert Nardelli (born May 17, 1948 in Old Forge , Pennsylvania ) was the chairman of the board of the automobile manufacturer Chrysler .

At the end of 2008, Robert Nardelli, along with the CEOs of Ford ( Alan Mulally ) and GM ( Rick Wagoner ), appeared before a committee of the US Senate to solicit bailout money from the US government to avert the impending insolvency. They were heavily criticized for their failed model policy, years of lobbying against stricter consumer guidelines (US CAFE legislation) and traveling with their own company jets.

Nardelli began his career at General Electrics , where he went from engineer to chairman of GE Power Systems . When he applied for the successor to the CEO of General Electrics and was defeated by Jeffrey R. Immelt , he received an offer as CEO of The Home Depot , which he accepted in December 2001.

After he lost his post in May 2007, he became Chairman of the Board of Management of Chrysler, which had recently been separated from Daimler AG, on August 5, 2007 .
