Robert Phillipson

Robert Phillipson (born March 16, 1942 in England ) is a British linguist who lives in Denmark .

Phillipson was head of the former Institute for Languages and Cultures at the University of Roskilde and was then research professor at the Faculty of English Language of the Copenhagen Business School . Today he is a professor emeritus at the Faculty of International Business Communication. Phillipson researches and publishes in the fields of applied linguistics , English studies and interlinguistics , among others on the topics of language policy (especially language imperialism ), the role of the English language in the world and foreign language didactics .

Phillipson has three children: Caspar, Thomas and Louise. He is married to Tove Skutnabb-Kangas .
