Robert Schwebler

Robert Schwebler (born March 22, 1926 in Feketić , Kingdom of Yugoslavia , † October 17, 2012 ) was an economist and insurance scientist .

Career

Schwebler graduated from high school in Novi Sad in 1944 and was then deployed in the war and in captivity until 1949. He studied economics at the University of Munich and received his doctorate in 1954 from the University of Innsbruck with the thesis on savings process and capital formation in German private insurance . In 1954 he joined the Karlsruher Lebensversicherungs-AG and from 1964 was its chairman. He was also chairman of the supervisory board of Karlsruher Versicherung AG and the Karlsruher Hinterbliebenenkasse AG.

From 1982 on he taught at the chair for insurance science at the University of Karlsruhe . Every year since 1993, scientific papers prepared or supervised by this chair have been awarded the Robert Schwebler Prize.
