Robert Siegismund Schanz

Robert Siegismund Schanz († 22. January 1849 ) was a German lawyer , magistrates and mayors in Chemnitz and Dresden .

Robert Siegismund (also Siegmund Robert) Schanz was a trained lawyer and city judge for the town of Schöneck in the Vogtland, where he was also a member of the town council and the town council. From 1836 to 1843 he was a deputy member of Carl Todt's deputy in the second chamber of the Saxon state parliament . From 1846 to August 1848 he was mayor of the city of Chemnitz , in which function he was an ex officio member of the 1st Landtag Chamber before resigning and being appointed mayor of Dresden.

Schanz was only two and a half months in the office of Dresden mayor when he fell seriously ill at the end of 1848 and died on January 22 of the following year. Wilhelm Pfotenhauer followed him and took over the board of the city council on January 2, 1849.
