Johann Friedrich Müller

Johannes Friedrich Müller (born August 8, 1812 in Schneckengrün , † June 11, 1878 in Ermatingen ) was a Saxon lawyer and politician.

From 1835 Müller studied law at the University of Leipzig . In the summer of 1835 he became a member of the Leipzig University Choir of St. Pauli (now the German Choir ). He then worked as a council actuary from 1839, later as a legal actuary, at the city court in Schneeberg . In 1841 he was appointed mayor and city judge in neighboring Neustädtel . From October 1848 until his resignation on August 27, 1874 he was mayor of Chemnitz . He was elected with 39 votes out of 58 voters. As a magistrate appointed by the king, he was also a member of the first chamber of the state parliament of the Kingdom of Saxony .

He died while on vacation in Switzerland.

In his honor, as well as city councilor Robert Zipper, a delightful fountain with shell limestone was built on the castle pond island. This was inaugurated in 1913 and created by Bruno Spieß.
