Robert Werner (musician)

Robert Werner (* in Vienna ) is an Austrian operetta singer ( tenor ), pianist and composer .

Life

Werner received his first piano lessons at the age of four. He impressed with a minuet by Mozart at the audition at the Vienna Conservatory . A move to Bratislava followed to study singing and piano. In the following years Robert Werner was particularly enthusiastic about jazz, rock and pop.

Werner then returned to his homeland Vienna, where he took private piano and singing lessons from Kammersänger James King , Hilde Zadek and Gottfried Hornik. He also deepened his jazz knowledge with Walter Hörler. Heinz Neubrand encouraged him to write his own compositions.

He worked as an operetta tenor at the Raimund Theater in Vienna . The State Opera soon invited him to an audition, after which he was engaged as a permanent member of the Vienna State Opera Choir. Werner sang choir and solo parts there for 25 years and performed with Herbert von Karajan , Carlos Kleiber and Bertrand de Billy .

In 2008 Werner set a new professional course and left the Vienna State Opera. Now he presents himself as an entertainer after international appearances with his own compositions, arrangements and a new repertoire. During his career at the Vienna State Opera he wrote his own piano pieces. With his programs he has appeared on stages in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Greece and China.

Publications

His first music book was published in 2009, followed in 2010 by the first CD, "Today, Tomorrow, Forever", at Vienna Sounds Studios VRC. Robert Werner composed his first musical, "Count Dracula", to texts by Myorah Middleton. The Berlin publisher “musiktotal” published 12 romantic pieces for piano that he composed under the title “Wiener Impressionen”.
