Ewald Rolf

Ewald Rolf (born September 8, 1901 in Essen , † April 30, 1993 in Gelsenkirchen ) was a German miner poet.

Life

Rolf was the son of a miner. He attended the mountain school in Bochum , did a mining apprenticeship. He then worked in various tasks in the Ruhr mining industry, initially as a fixture fitter , later as a technical draftsman, nurse, industrial electrician , switch attendant and commercial clerk. Until his retirement in 1987, he worked for over 50 years on 20 different shafts in the Ruhr area. After his retirement he lived in Gelsenkirchen-Horst and from 1993 in Essen.

He was a member of the “ Authors' Circle Ruhr-Mark ” and the “ Dortmund Group 61 ”.

Ewald's bequests are available at the Fritz Hüster Institute in Dortmund.

  • 1953: Award from the Federal Minister for Labor in Bonn for a story
  • 1966: Literature Prize from Gerhard Beer Verlag
  • 1972: Prize from the Stern Brewery for the city of Essen's best local poem
