Authors' circle Ruhr-Mark

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Authors 'Circle Ruhr-Mark eV is one of the oldest independent authors' associations in Germany.

The Union

The association was founded in 1961 by Hans Schulz-Fielbrandt and Richard Althaus and is based in Hagen .

The founding meeting took place on October 28, 1961 in the Hotel Deutsches Haus in Gevelsberg , at that time still under the name "Circle of companions".

The circle of authors has been a registered association since 1978 .

The goal of the association is

"... to optimize the quality of one's own literary work through mutual exchange and constructive criticism, to take a socio-political position outwardly, but also to convey the idea of poetry and time-critical prose to the public via the literary channel."

- Brigitta Willer

The association has around 40 members from the Ruhr area and the Mark (and the respective surroundings) with very different backgrounds.

Many of the current and former club members have made a name for themselves beyond the region with their publications. The former members include the well-known writer Alfred Müller-Felsenburg , and a number of association members have already been awarded the Alfred-Müller-Felsenburg Prize for upright literature named after him .

Around every two years, the group of authors publishes an anthology, each of which takes a position on a selected problem. In 2011, the year of the 50th anniversary of the association, the anniversary anthology “Streifzüge” was published, a retrospective on the years of joint work that also recalls critical debates.

In addition, the authors' group plans and realizes literary competitions and organizes public readings with different focuses.

Applicants from the Ennepe-Ruhr district, the Märkisches Kreis and neighboring places of residence as well as from the cities of Hagen and Schwerte were eligible to participate.
