Alfred Müller-Felsenburg

Alfred Müller-Felsenburg (born December 26, 1926 in Bochum ; † December 29, 2007 in Mechernich ) was a German teacher, poet and writer . He wrote both poetry , short fiction , short stories , essays , novels and science fiction stories and children's books , guides and biographies (especially with Christian religious reference). He published some works under the pseudonyms Lester Counge and Meunier Bourg de la Roche .

biography

Alfred Müller-Felsenburg was born in 1926 into a working-class family in Bochum. After elementary school he completed teacher training in Hofheim am Taunus and Großkrotzenburg from 1941 to 1944 . In the last year of the war he took as a soldier in the Second World War and was after the war until 1948 in American and French captivity . In 1949 he converted to Catholicism and worked as a commercial assistant in Hagen. From 1949 to 1951 he studied education at the Pedagogical Academy in Essen-Kupferdreh . He then worked as a teacher in Halver until 1961 , where he also took his second state examination in 1954 and published the first poems and books for young people in the late 1950s. In 1963 he moved to a school in Ratingen in the Rhineland and then came back to Westphalia in 1964 to a school in Hagen , where he taught until 1978. After retiring from teaching in 1978, he lived as a freelance writer .

During his years as a teacher, Müller-Felsenburg pursued journalistic and writing activities. From 1962 to 1993 he was a member of the Authors' Circle Ruhr-Mark , where he was vice chairman and press officer for many years. From 1966 to 1993 he was a member of the Association of German Writers . From 1984 to 1999 he was a member of the Aachen "Inklings Society for Literature and Aesthetics", since 2000 a member of the Schmallenberg Christine Koch Society .

In 1988 the publisher Hans-Werner Gey from Hagen and the literary scholar Ulrich Schödlbauer initiated the Alfred Müller Felsenburg Prize for upright literature , which has been named after Alfred Müller-Felsenburg and has been awarded annually since 1988 .

In 2004 Müller-Felsenburg moved - due to a cancer - together with his wife Agnes von Hagen to a facility for assisted living in neighboring Gevelsberg , in 2007 - after the death of his wife - to the Eifel to the hospice "Stella Maris" of the order Communio in Christ in Mechernich . In 2007 Müller-Felsenburg himself received the “Prize for upright literature” named after him for his life's work. A few days after his 81st birthday, he died on December 29, 2007 in Mechernich. The writer had three children.

  • 1979 - Hugo-Carl-Jüngst-Medal for progressive literature from the publishing house Gey, Hagen
  • 1995 - “The Vigilant Chicken” award (named after the novel by Erik Reger ), Essen
  • 1997 - Westphalian Literature Prize of the Friends of the Westphalian Literature Archive Hagen
  • 2007 - Alfred Müller Felsenburg Prize for upright literature for his life's work
