Hans Schulz-Fielbrandt (born September 12, 1912 in Ossowo / Preußisch Stargard district , † November 28, 1991 in Gevelsberg ) was a German educator and writer.

Life

Schulz-Fielbrandt was the son of an elementary school teacher, but the double name goes back to the mother. The family was evicted in 1919. After graduating from high school in Cottbus in 1931 , Schulz-Fielbrandt studied German, history, geography, philosophy and folklore in Berlin , Würzburg and Rostock from 1931 to 1937 . After initially serving as trainee lawyer and assessor in Züllichau , Potsdam and Schwiebus from 1937 to 1940 , he was a soldier in World War II from 1940 to 1945 and was held as a prisoner of war until 1948. During his imprisonment, he supervised high school graduation classes in Norton Camp and was co-editor of a study sheet for the YMCA's prisoner-of-war aid . Even after his return to Germany, he continued to work in the field of prisoner-of-war aid before moving from Münster to Gevelsberg in 1949 . There he was first a teacher and later director of studies at the Gevelsberg high school until he retired in 1975.

In 1961, together with Richard Althaus , he founded the Authors' Circle Ruhr-Mark in Hagen, of which he was chairman from 1973 to 1984.

In the last years of his life, Schulz-Fielbrandt increasingly withdrew from the public due to illness, before he died in Gevelsberg in 1991.

He was married to Waltraud Schulz-Fielbrandt (1922–2009). In 1999 Schulz-Fielbrandt's widow handed over 1206 books from her husband's estate to the city of Gevelsberg, which have since been viewed in meeting room 3 of the Gevelsberg town hall.
