Simon Asta (born January 25, 2001 in Augsburg ) is a German soccer player who is under contract with FC Augsburg ; he is also a German national junior player . Asta is the first player born in 2001 and thus the first player born in the 21st century to appear in the Bundesliga .

Career

Asta started playing soccer at TSV Göggingen in 1875 before moving to the youth department of FC Augsburg in 2012. Since 2016 he has played a total of 27 point games in the B-Junioren-Bundesliga for the U17s and scored one goal.

After Asta had already been in the FCA's winter training camp and had trained with the pros for the entire second half of the season, he was in the first team's squad three times, but remained without commitment. On May 12, 2018 (34th matchday) he made his debut in the Bundesliga when he came on for Jan Morávek in the 79th minute in the 2-0 defeat against SC Freiburg . At the age of 17 years and 107 days, he became the first player born in 2001 to play in the first division and the sixth-youngest player in the history of the Bundesliga.

On May 17, 2018, Asta signed a professional contract with FC Augsburg dated until 2020 plus option.

National team

Asta made his debut on May 19, 2016 in the game against the Dutch selection for the DFB U15 national team . This was followed by a deployment in the U16 team and a deployment in the U17 national team . He was also in the provisional squad for the 2018 U17 European Championship in England and was available on call. In November 2018 he played his first game against Cyprus for the U18 team .
