Robert Zieger

Robert H. Zieger (born August 2, 1938 in Englewood (New Jersey) , † March 6, 2013 ) was an American historian on the labor movement in the United States .

In 1960 Zieger received his bachelor's degree from Montclair State College and in 1961 his masters degree from the University of Wyoming . He married in 1962. In 1965 he received his PhD in history from the University of Maryland .

In 1964, Zieger was appointed assistant professor of history at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point . In 1973 he became an associate professor at Kansas State University, where he worked until 1977. From 1977 to 1986 he worked as a professor of history at Wayne State University . 1986 Zieger was appointed professor of history at the University of Florida .

In 1998 he was named Distinguished Professor of History . Two of his books received the Philip Taft Labor History Book Award for best book on the labor movement:
