Robert Zinterhof

Robert Zinterhof (born January 21, 1952 in Pabneukirchen ) is a retired teacher and freelance journalist. He has received several awards for his social initiatives. As a reporter, he is a member of Upper Austria. Press club and in the ÖJC .

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Zinterhof graduated from the Pedagogical Academy of the Diocese of Vienna in Strebersdorf . He taught most of his professional life as a teacher of German , geography and economics as well as social learning at the secondary school in Pabneukirchen. In 2005 he was awarded the professional title of school councilor . In 2012 he said goodbye to old-age pension.

In his spare time, he has been doing mostly voluntary work as a reporter for local newspapers since he was 20 , and his catchment area mainly includes the towns of the southern lower Mühlviertel .

Both in class and in his free time, he was committed to social initiatives.

  • He is one of the co-founders of the Asylum Platform Upper Austria;
  • He and his wife Monika looked after the last depositor in the Mühlviertel , Franz Buchberger, for more than ten years , and organized an aid network to secure his rights;
  • He was involved in the Barrier-Free Upper Austria campaign and work for people with disabilities ;
  • He collected donations to support schools in Africa and Brazil;
  • Medial support of aid projects for decades and organization of social projects

From 2015 to 2018 he supported the fundraising campaign for the extension to the Waldhausen im Strudengau support center.

In connection with a letter, mail and postcard campaign to prevent the deportation of a family from Kosovo, he came into conflict with the school authorities in 2006. Based on this action, a joint platform for activists on the right to stay was founded in Pabneukirchen with the participation of Zinterhof and the asylum platform Upper Austria, to which 70 groups belonged a little later.

  • Human Rights Award of the State of Upper Austria (2007)
  • Inclusio , price of Upper Austria. Civil-Invalidenverband (OÖZIV) in the authorities category for the New Middle School Pabneukirchen, which has been running a sustainable project for several years to show students what everyday life is like for a person with disabilities. The project was supervised by Robert Zinterhof and Monika Berger (2010)
  • Badge of Honor of the St. Thomas Parish, 2004
