Robert de Fiennes

Robert de Fiennes , called Moreau (* around 1308 , † 1385 ) was a Connétable of France .

He was the son of Jean de Fiennes and Isabella of Flanders, who in turn was a daughter of Guido I, Count of Flanders .

In 1356 he was succeeded Walter VI. appointed by Brienne as a Connétable. In 1358 he prevented the English from occupying Amiens . 1360-1361 he was deputy to the king in Languedoc . When his Château de Fiennes came under the rule of the English through the Treaty of Brétigny , he refused to pay homage to the English king and also resisted a siege of his castle by 25,000 English soldiers. In 1370 he resigned for reasons of age. He was succeeded by Bertrand du Guesclin .

He married Béatrice Dame de Gavre in his first marriage and Marguerite de Melun in his second marriage. Descendants are not known.
