Roberto Enrique Dañino Zapata (born March 2, 1951 in Lima ) is a Peruvian politician and diplomat who was Prime Minister between 2001 and 2002 .

Life

Dañino Zapata began studying law at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru after attending school . He also completed a postgraduate course in law at the Harvard University , and was then as 1973-1989 lawyer for corporate law working in Lima. In 1989 he went to the United States , where he was co-founder and chief legal advisor of the Inter-American Investment Corporation in Washington, DC , before becoming a partner in the law firm Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering in 1993 .

After President Alejandro Toledo took office , Dañino Zapata was appointed Prime Minister of Peru on July 28, 2001 as the successor to Javier Pérez de Cuéllar . His cabinet included Diego García-Sayán Larrabure as Foreign Minister, Second Vice-President David Waisman as Defense Minister, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski as Minister of Economics and Finance and Fernando Rospigliosi as Minister of the Interior. He held the post of Prime Minister until July 11, 2002, after which Luis Solari de la Fuente became his successor on July 12, 2002.

Dañino Zapata then acted as the successor to Allan Wagner Tizón from November 7, 2002 until his replacement by Eduardo Ferrero Costa on October 31, 2003 as ambassador to the USA. He then held the post of Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Advisor of the World Bank from 2003 to 2006 . He was then Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management and Managing Director of the mining company Hochschild Mining . He has also been Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management of the building materials manufacturer Cementos Pacasmayo SAA since 2008, Chairman of the Board of Fosfatos del Pacifico SA since 2010, Member of the Board of Petronova Inc since 2011 and Member of the Board of Directors of Inversiones Centenario SAA since 2013 . He is also a member of the assembly of Transparencia , founded on July 18, 1994 , an organization to promote democracy in Peru.
