Robin Teverson, Baron Teverson (born March 31, 1952 ) is a British Liberal Democrats politician who was a member of the European Parliament during the fourth legislative term between 1994 and 1999 and has been a member of the House of Lords since 2006 .

Life

After attending school, Teverson graduated from the University of Exeter .

After he had run unsuccessfully for a seat in the House of Commons as a candidate for the Liberal Democrats in the constituency of South East Cornwall in the general election on April 9, 1992 , he was elected member of the European Parliament in 1994 and represented it until the end of the fourth 1999 legislature for the Cornwall and West Plymouth constituency . He was one of the first two Liberal Democrats to be elected Member of the European Parliament. Most recently he was chief group leader of the European Liberal Democrats from 1997 to 1999 .

He then took on numerous roles in the private sector, for example as director of the companies KCS Trade Print Ltd, Wessex Investors Ltd, Wessex Projects Limited and Wessex Hotel Operators Limited and as CEO of Finance South West Ltd.

On the other hand, he continued to work between 1999 and 2002 as chairman of the finance and administration committee and at the same time as a member of the executive board of the Liberal Democrats. He has been serving as a member of the Executive Board again since 2005.

On June 26, 2006, Teverson was raised to the nobility as a life peer with the title Baron Teverson , of Tregony in the County of Cornwall, and has been a member of the House of Lords ever since .

As such, he was between 2006 and 2009 Whip the fraction of the Liberal Democrats in the House and at the same time until 2008 spokesperson on the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs before he was from 2008 to 2010 spokesperson on energy and climate change. Lord Teverson has also been a member of the Cornwall County Council since 2009 .
