The skirt Pile Peaks ( English for Cairn Peak ) are a group of mountain peaks with a maximum height of 1110 m at the Bowman Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . They loom between Wilson Pass and Rock Pile Point on the Bermel Peninsula .
Aerial photographs were taken in 1928 by the Australian polar explorer Hubert Wilkins and in 1935 by the American polar explorer Lincoln Ellsworth . These were used by the US geographer WLG Joerg for an initial mapping. Scientists from the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941) took additional aerial photographs in 1940 . The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out a geodetic survey in 1947. The descriptive naming goes back to a proposal by the UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee from 1952, for which the naming of the Rock Pile Point served as a template.
