Rodan (movie monster)
Rodan ( Japanese ラ ド ン , Radon ) is a Kaiju from the Tōhō film studio. Rodan had his first appearance in 1956 in the film The Flying Monsters of Osaka by Ishirō Honda .

The design of the monster changed again and again over the years. The basis of the pterosaur was retained. While the figure in the Shōwa season changed more towards the pterosaur, in the Heisei season he became more monstrous and larger and, like Godzilla, depicted as a radioactive monster.

Rodan (or Radon) is a combination of the syllables ra and don , as found in Pteranodon, a species of pterosaur. In addition, Radon is a radioactive, chemical element.
