Frankenstein's Hellbrood ( Japanese 地球 攻 撃 命令 ゴ ジ ラ 対 ガ イ ガ ン , Chikyū kogeki meirei: Gojira tai Gaigan ) is a Japanese film by the director Jun Fukuda . It is the twelfth part of the Godzilla series of the Tōhō studio. The film was produced with a lower budget than the previous films in this series. That is why many film clips from previous films were reused for this one (for example, from orders from the dark ).

action

A group of extraterrestrials in what appears to be human form tries to conquer the earth and destroy cities in order to then colonize them. You work in an amusement park, in a tower modeled after Godzilla . To do this, they call two monsters from space: Gigan and Ghidorah. The manga artist Gengo Kotaka learns of these plans while working for the aliens. With the help of a found tape that Gengo is playing, he calls Godzilla and Anguirus. The four giant monsters eventually fight each other, with the "good" monsters Godzilla and Anguirus ultimately winning with the help of Gengo and his friends who destroy the Tower of the Alien.

Worth mentioning

Frankenstein's infernal brood is considered the most brutal part of the season in the uncut version. What is striking about the film are the many parts from earlier films. For example, the sudden change from day to night during the main battle of the four monsters is particularly noticeable. New scenes were combined with those from Orders from the Dark or Frankenstein's monster fighting Ghidorah ( Ghidora, the Three-Headed Monster ). The entire film music is not new either. It comes entirely from previous films (for example from War in Space ).

Premieres

  • Japan March 12th 1972
  • Germany January 11th 1973

reception

The box office was $ 1.78 million.

The film received a 67 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes (reviewers). 49 percent of the audience rated the film positively.

“Mixture of horror and science fiction film with some ironic approaches, staged by the Honda student Fukuda; In terms of tricks, it is more on the naive-adventurous level. (TV title also: "Godzilla and the giant beetles") "
