action

The scientist Yuji Shinoda and his daughter Io operate the Godzilla Protection Network, or GPN for short. In Nemuro on the northern island of Hokkaidō , she and the journalist Yuki Ichonose observe an irregularity in the surface of the earth in stormy weather, which is moving ever closer to the mainland. In fact, it is Godzilla who is stepping back on Japanese soil. The GPN follows him immediately. As they drive through a tunnel, the Shinodas and Yuki realize that the road in front of them has been destroyed and stand in front of Godzilla. In a panic, Yuki presses the flash on her camera and makes Godzilla even angrier. Although the dinosaur collapses the tunnel, they can escape. Godzilla continues on his way, destroying Nemuro in the process.

In the Japan Trench , a science team led by Professor Miyasaka makes an important discovery. A rock on the ocean floor exhibits a strong magnetic signature, which would make it a greater source of energy than uranium. Under the patronage of the head of the crisis agency Mitsou Katagiri, he would like to continue researching this rock. The plan is to use balloons to propel the rock to the surface of the water. But this blows up the balloons and drives up independently. During the investigation, a drilling team came across a hard metal that was not penetrable.

Both the GPN and the crisis authorities receive clues that Godzilla is moving towards the Tōkai nuclear power plant . Shinoda and Katagiri come together, both of whom have different views on fighting Godzilla - Katagiri wants to kill him, Shinoda study him - and are therefore in conflict with one another. The army is gathering its troops to stop Godzilla, or at least lure Godzilla away from the reactor. A new weapon, the Blast Bomb, which can penetrate both steel and Godzilla's extremely tough skin, should then finish him off.

At the same time, the rock rises, stands vertically, and flies away under the shocked eyes of the scientists. His target is Godzilla, who is still under heavy fire from the Japanese army. Godzilla scans the strange rock and attacks him with a strong laser beam, which only brings the dinosaur down. When they both fire their beams at each other, they turn each other off.

The scientists discuss the origin of the strange flying object and agree that it came from space. Because it landed on the ocean floor when it arrived, depriving it of its main source of energy, sunlight, it spent millions of years there before the research submarine illuminated it. The army therefore scans the object, which has no organic life inside. Shinoda needs the help of the army for further exploration of Godzilla, which Katagiri grants him in exchange for the data that have been collected about the dinosaur.

With further research, Shinoda discovers the cells that are crucial for Godzilla's incredible regenerative abilities. Shinoda calls it Organizer G1 . He is sure that he will get to the bottom of the origin of all life. Meanwhile, the army holds the object with a magnetic barrier, but it simply breaks through and is able to escape.

The object flies to Tokyo and settles there on the roof of the City Tower. Yuki's editorial office is also located there. The object creates both fear and fascination at the same time. Yuki notices that her laptop has turned on by itself, and other computers in Tokyo go crazy too. Behind this is the object that uses invisible tentacles to siphon all the data from the computers in order to obtain information about humanity and the history of planet earth. Since the object represents a danger, as it changes the atmosphere, it should be destroyed with a blast bomb.

Yuki is still on the 48th floor of the City Tower and tries to find out what the object is up to with the data. Knowing nothing of the imminent destruction of the City Tower, Shinoda tries to penetrate there to get her. But when he notices what data the object is targeting, namely that of the Organizer G1 cells, he decides to stay and send Yuki and Io forward so that Katagiri can delay the demolition. But he does not agree and orders the demolition according to plan. However, Shinoda has finished his plans and tries to escape. Since the elevators are switched off, he can only escape via the stairs, which costs too much time. The weapon is fired, but the object survives the attack and destroys the City Tower. Yuki and Io are desperately looking for Shinoda, who has survived with the last of his strength.

This also tells the soldiers what the object is planning. It wants to adapt the earth's atmosphere to its conditions and is also planning to appropriate the Organizer G1 cells from Godzilla, who is now also reaching Tokyo. He immediately strides to the object, which attacks him immediately and tries to get to his cells. After the object has weakened the dinosaur enough, it taps into organizer G1 cells and begins to transform itself from a liquid-gaseous form into a solid organic living being. The object takes on the shape of the being from which it robs the cells. So it's clear that it wants to take the form of Godzilla and effectively replace him. It transforms itself into the living being Orga.

Godzilla is not only dealing with organization, but also with the remains of the object. Godzilla manages to hurt Orga, but thanks to the Organizer G1 cells it can regenerate quickly. Orga uses the last resort, he enlarges his mouth and tries to swallow Godzilla. However, it counters with its heat ray and can kill Orga from within. For the GPN and the crisis team that were following the fight, it only becomes dangerous when Godzilla approaches them. Shinoda tries to save Katagiri, who refuses, however. The dinosaur kills Katagiri and then strides through Tokyo to destroy the city.
