action

When a large meteorite hits the Pacific Ocean near the Ogasawara Islands , nature can no longer calm down. Typhoons and rainstorms follow .

Meanwhile, Takuya Fujito, a treasure robber, was caught and imprisoned. But he would be released if he and Kenji Andoh and his ex-wife Masako investigated the consequences of the impact on an island.

Finally he decides to go with them. Once on the island, only mishaps happen to them. But then Takuya discovers a cave with mysterious wall paintings and a large colored egg as well as the two cosmos. The two fairy twins told them that the egg belonged to Mothra and that she fought Battra thousands of years ago . Battra, awakened by the meteor impact, is on his way to Japan. When he reaches the port city of Nagoya , the army cannot stop him. But as quickly as it came, it disappeared just as quickly.

In the meantime it has been decided to take the giant egg back to Japan. But Masako and Takuya do not know that the egg for the greedy group is the Tomo Company. Not only Battra was brought back to life by the meteorite impact, Godzilla also shows up and tries to attack the egg. Suddenly the Mothra larva hatches out of the egg and is not protected from the attacks of Godzilla. To the annoyance of the Cosmos, Battra appears, who immediately messes with Godzilla. In their underwater fight, the two forget Mothra, who quickly runs away. In their fight, the two giants trigger an underwater volcanic eruption that swallows the two. Now that the egg is gone, Andoh decides to kidnap the two Cosmos and - instead of the egg - sell them to his company.

Now the government has panic because it has to assume that Mothra will look for the Cosmos. Since the Cosmos are in Tokyo , no one knows how much damage Mothra will cause. But when Andoh realizes that he screwed up, he decides to give the Cosmos back. But nothing comes of it, because Takuya has meanwhile stolen the two fairies and wants to sell them dearly to someone. With their singing, the two fairies summon Mothra, who is on her way to Tokyo. Nothing can stop her, but Masako not only has her little daughter with her, but now also Miki, who can hear the two cosmos singing with her telepathic abilities.

The three not only find the fairy twins in a hotel, but also Takuya, who now regrets what he has done. Mohtra approaches the hotel and wants to free the two, but the Cosmos tell Mothra that she doesn't have to worry. For some reason she then makes her way towards the parliament building and weaves into a cocoon there.

A little later Mount Fuji breaks out and Godzilla rises from it and sets off for Tokyo. Exactly at this point in time, the fully grown Mothra hatches out of the cocoon, which does not fly towards Godzilla, but to Battra, who is also still alive. At the same time, the army tries to chase Godzilla away with new tanks, but it doesn't take Godzilla long to kill them.

The three monsters finally meet in Yokohama and fight a tough fight, in which Battra decides to fight on Mothra's side, but is defeated by Godzilla.

When Godzilla and Battra plunge into the depths of the Pacific Ocean. peace has returned.

Takuya and Masako decide that they will try again. Finally they wave to the General Staff, as well as the Cosmos and Mothra, who are making their way into space.
