action

In the last summer of the 20th century , giant monsters that appear out of nowhere begin to destroy the earth. One day Godzilla appears, who defeats them, but also causes immense damage to humanity. Two humanoid species land on earth: the Exif, who want to help people with their religion, and the Bilusaludo, who promise to destroy Godzilla if they are then allowed to settle on earth. Both fail - and so they have to leave earth with humans and flee into space to find new planets where they can survive.

Twenty years later and 11.9 light years from Earth, Captain Haruo Sakaki is imprisoned for a disobedience to command. He refused to fly a shuttle with old people to an uninhabitable planet. That would have meant certain death. The old ones set off anyway, until after a few minutes the shuttle actually explodes. Metphies, an Exif priest, brings Haruo secret information about Godzilla, who then anonymously publishes a scientific treatise on how to defeat the monster.

Due to many problems with food and energy reserves and the hopelessness of finding a habitable planet at all in the next few decades, the committee that directs the fate of the exiles decides to return to earth. Haruo seems to have found a plausible solution how to get rid of Godzilla.

The spaceship then returns to Earth. This has changed fundamentally since people fled, because more than 19,000 years have passed since they left the planet. The earth no longer resembles the planet that used to be the home of humans. On its surface there is finally a showdown between humanity on the one hand and Godzilla on the other.
