The park railway Hjerl Hede is a narrow-gauge railway line in the Danish open-air museum Hjerl Hede in the municipality of Holstebro in the administrative region of Midtjylland . It was built in 1975 with a gauge of 700 mm and retraced to 785 mm in autumn 1988.
history
The origins of the open-air museum go back to the 1930s, when an old farm was turned into a museum for the first time. First handicraft techniques were shown, later the museum was expanded to include a cooperative dairy and a forest museum.
The route, built in 1975, leads through the plantations of Hjerl Hede and along Flyndersø , Denmark's largest ice age lake .
The rails and sleepers used come from a disused narrow-gauge line of the state hydraulic engineering ( Danish Vandbygningsvæsen ), the predecessor of today's Kystdirektoratet . The route lay on the west coast of Jutland and was used for the transport of material and personnel for the construction and repair of groynes . The rails are bolted with straps and attached to the sleepers with nails.
